Add the negative points i.e. all the unplayed cards (including your foot if you didn’t get into it), and remove the same amount of points from the melds in your building area. If there’s too many points against you, it might be simpler to just subtract your total negative points from your positive ones when tallying all the numbers in step #4. - Canasta Points
Add the Canasta points.- Bill has 2 black canastas and 1 red canasta: 300+ 300 + 500 = 1,100 points
- Adam has 3 black canastas and 2 red canastas: 300 + 300 + 300 + 500 + 2,000 (book of 2s) = 3,400 points
- Individual Cards Points
Each player gathers all the cards they played, the ones in their building area as well as the ones in their canastas and add up their points based on each card’s value.- Bill, after removing his book of 2s in step #1, is left with 43 cards that add up to: 550 points
- Adam has 49 cards that add up to: 615 points
- Tallying this round’s points
- Bill: 1,100 + 550 = 1,650

Step 1 - Unplayed cards
The player that did not go out was left holding unplayed cards and maybe even didn’t get to his Foot. If that’s the case, that would be 13 other cards that would count against them. In the current scenario, Bill did get to his Foot and was only left with 2 unplayed cards.
Bill:

1st subtotal = -60 points
Adam:
- No unplayed cards therefore = 0 points againts him

In this step you only add the points provided by the canastas you each completed.
